The manager Kevin is the winning recipe for Longliner. He cannot be more welcoming if he tried. Nothing is a problem and nothing is too much. Actually he anticipates your needs and offers to help before you can even ask. He was just truly amazing and gave the best service and kindness we have ever experienced. And off course if that is the attitude of the manager, it trickles down to the rest of the staff. While the decor may not be modern, it was clean and comfortable. We did not have breakfast at Longliner as we generally do not eat breakfast. The room has a fridge, microwave, kettle and coffee maker should we have felt like something while the kitchen is not open and the supermarket was not far. We had a fabulous dinner at the restaurant where we sampled many of the chefs seafood dishes and deserts and rated it as the best meal we had in our 2 weeks in Alaska.

We stayed there twice - one when we arrived and one when we departed from Sitka. The first stay we got a huge room with living/dining area and a kitchen, there is a great view outside the harbor. we were very happy with that room. The second stay we got a normal room and there were some issues as explained below. The new owner just took over the hotel so the manager was still trying to understand the hotel itself. With limited staff he is often not in his office but he is very responsive and helpful when we phoned him for help. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel that only provides dinner. The food there is quite decent.

The Longliner was a great option for our first night in Sitka. The manager/owner, Kevin, contacted us with arrival instructions and was at the airport promptly to shuttle us from our flight from Seattle. Although it was not fancy, the room was warm and comfortable. After checking out the town we went back to The Galley Restaurant (located at The Longliner Lodge) and it was scenic and delicious. Great amenities, refrigerator and morning coffee. We highly recommend The Longliner!

We missed the part about the restaurant being closed for the off season BUT Kevin was generous with his time to run us to town for breakfast & to the raptor center & Totem National. Park our 1st day because it was raining. When the bus service was interrupted & we couldn't find a taxi that would answer the phone he stepped up to fill that gap too. The room was nice enough & seemed very clean. The location was easily walkable to downtown when it wasn't pouring rain.

The views were spectacular! Sea Lions, herons, seals and sea birds right off the deck. Lots of room and well stocked with great cookware. Staff was exceptional. Close 5 minute walk to downtown. Away from crowds and right over the water! Lovely!
